Summary
Michael Holt says he needs to be mentally strong if he is to have a chance of success at the World Championship in Sheffield.
The Nottingham potter, who gets under way against Joe Perry on Saturday afternoon, has only once gone beyond the first round at the Crucible.
Holt told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I can play. I'm good enough physically, but mentally, that's the big question.
"With every frame I win, I will be growing as a player," he said.
Holt won his first ever match at the Crucible back in 2005 but has lost in the first round every time he has qualified since.
He has been unlucky to draw former champion John Higgins in the first round on each of his last two visits but Holt feels more confident this year.
He said: "I'm definitely good enough to win the next match and the next match after that. If I can find myself in the quarter-finals, we'll see.
"If I play my game, I can beat anyone. I know that."
