MANN WINS FINAL UNDER 16 EVENT
FIRST FINAL FOR GARLAND
125 FROM SERIES WINNER WILSON
Mitchell Mann won the final Under 16’s Event at Willie Thorne’s, Leicester defeating Birmingham colleague Luke Garland in his first final 3-0 to claim his second title in the year long series from six events entered.
The following day the Junior Pot Black winner was honoured at the BBC Midlands Sports Dinner as one of the top three contenders for Midlands Junior Sports Personality of the Year – A boxer took the top award.
Mann who finished the Under 16’s in 3rd place from 84 players in the rankings opened the final with a break of 59 (83-13) to easily win the first frame he just managed to win the second frame on the black (47-42) and completed the whitewash with a run of 33 in the third frame (70-28).
To reach his 3rd final of the series Mann endured three deciding frame finishes firstly
3-0 down to 11 year old Adam Bobat, 2-1 behind to Nic Charalambous and also 3-1 adrift to Mitchell Travis battling to win all the games eventually 4-3.
Better form found with a 3-1 semi final victory over Sam Harvey with breaks of 40 and 75 to go with earlier efforts of 42 and 55.
First final for Garland
Garland, 13 required a good performance languishing in 40th place in the rankings after 7 events to reach the finals he duly obliged by reaching his first final and 17th place.
Defeating Ben Cooper 4-3 breaks of 40 and 47, Thomas Barley 4-3 after leading 3-1, 46 break and the previous months winner James Jelley 3-1.

Wilson five finals, 2nd Mitchell Travis one win, three consecutive finals, 3rd Mann,
4th Jelley one win two finals, 5th Nick Jennings three finals, 6th Danny Douane one win, 7th Joel Walker one win and 8th Sam Craigie also one title the latter three plus Travis and Jelley their first wins.
In total nine different players won one of the events other winners Anthony McGill 17th from two events and Kamran Ashraf 12th once from three events.
Plate winners other than above Grant Miles, Jake Nicholson, Sam Thistlewhite and Daniel Bestford.
Wilson flies in plate
Series Champion Kyren Wilson winner of three events suffered another early main event exit this time to Danny Douane 4-1 but bounced back to fly in the plate beating Tom Maxfield 2-1 in the final with breaks of 125,72 and 43 to go with earlier efforts of 43,45,59,44 and 54.
Grand Finals Saturday December 15th, 11.30 am start, £15 entry fee.
Full dress except for bow tie.
