3RD FINAL ON THE TROT FOR TRAVIS

Danny Douane, 14, deservedly won his first Under 16 title, Willie Thorne’s, Leicester
defeating Mitchell Travis 3-1 in Octobers final the 10th event of the year long series in which 80 youngsters have played.

The winner who plays at Fairview, Wembley was the days most consistent performer and climbs to 5th from 14th place with the victory, Travis in his 3rd consecutive final is virtually certain of 2nd place as is Kyren Wilson absent at the EASB Pro Ticket tour certain of 1st place but neither mathematically safe.

A break of 43 secured the first frame 71-27 although a fluke on the yellow from Douane proved vital from out of a snooker, Travis won the second frame 32-53.

Both players had four good chances each in the next frame however Douane with three open reds remaining called a foul on himself from which Travis failed to capitalise, Douane with a run of 26 to the pink regained the lead 68-44.

A break of 51 sealed the win 70-25 in the fourth frame.

The Londoner scored well all day more breaks than anybody over forty beating Oliver Brown 3-1, 59 break, Luke Garland 3-0 breaks of 40,51 and 69, first event finalist James Jelley 3-2 from 2-1 down, 63 and a 47 in the decider and finally the home clubs Sameer Knight in his first semi final 3-0, Knight leaps up to 12th spot.

Travis did not lose a frame on his way to the final again crushing all 3-0 Mark Green, a repeat of last months final with a 48 break, EASB finalist Tom Maxfield, Adam Bobat and Nick Charalambous in his first semi now 22nd, Travis 51 break.

First time finalists
Daniel Bestford and Ben Cooper reached the plate final for the first time, Bestford winning 2-1 with breaks of 38 and 46 after beating his Norwich colleague Sean Peacock 2-1 in the semi finals.

Cooper gained some revenge over Luke Garland in the semi finals who knocked him out of the main event.
