Peter Lines is delighted with Telford win over Marco Fu

Peter LinesLeeds-based Peter Lines has hailed his UK Championship win over Marco Fu as one of the best of his career.

The world number 64 defeated the 2007 Grand Prix champion 9-3 in their first round match in Telford.

Lines, who turns 40 on Friday, has been on the circuit since 1991 and his best tournament performance came 10 years ago at the China Open.

He told BBC Sport: "Apart from qualifying for the Crucible, this is probably the best victory I have had."

Two-times world champion Mark Williams will be his opponent in the last 16 and Lines is pleased with his head-to-head record against the Welshman.

"A few years ago I wouldn't have thought I would have been playing him again," the Yorkshireman said.

"I have got a 50% record against him. I have won one, lost one.

"We will see how it goes. I will go out there and enjoy it. I am just delighted to be playing."
