Summary
The International flavour of the World Snooker Tour this year continues with the latest players awarded a wildcard into the Shanghai Masters in September.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Sajjad will play former World Champion Ken Doherty and Thailand’s Passakorn Suwannawat will play Dave Harold in the Wildcard round.
In previous years these wildcard spots had been almost exclusively held by Chinese players.
The move is a good one for World Snooker that wants to further develop the appeal of the sport into new territories. Snooker is massively popular in both Thailand and Pakistan and these players will perhaps open doors for future events and TV contracts.
