The last Euro Players Tour Championship in Prague this weekend saw Michael Holt cause an upset after beating John Higgins, 4-3. Higgins who had won 13 matches in a row, including the EPTC 5 final since his 2nd pro tour appearance following a six-month ban was a strong favorite to clinch the EPTC6 title.

John Higgins received a welcome win back from his six month ban from Snooker this weekend in Germany at the European Players Tour Championship 5. He continued the trend of a different winner at each event when beating opponent Shaun Murphy, 4-2. Murphy, who had previously won at EPTC 2 was able to gain enough points as the runner up to top the order of merit list which also rewarded Higgins to enter at position 15.

Dominic Dale finally got to narrow out the competition this week with a 4-3 win at the Star Xing Pai Players Tour Championship Six when he came from 54 points behind in the final frame to beat Martin Gould.
Both players won their semi final matches with 4-1 score lines to advance to the final.

World Number Eight Shaun Murphy won his first Players Tour Championship event over the weekend against Matthew Couch, 4-2 in Belgium.
The European Players Tour Championship Event 2 was presented as part of the ISCA Bruges Open on 30th September- 3rd October.

It seems the 2010-11 snooker season has so far been a season of firsts. Both Tom Ford and Barry Pinches won their first professional titles this year in the new PTC series. Britol’s young-gun Judd Trump is the latest player to join this group.
Judd lifted the Paul Hunter Classic in Furth, Germany, at the weekend to give himself €10,000 in prize money and 2000 ranking points that come with a win on the PTC.

The Paul Hunter Classic has been running in Furth, Germany for the past few years as a Pro-am/Invitational tournament. This year with the introduction of the Players Tour Championship (PTC) and the EPTC it has become a fully fledged event on the World Snooker calendar.
Named in honour of the late Paul Hunter, the tournament, promoted by new WPBSA board member and Hunters former manager Brandon Parker, has helped massively towards the growth of snooker’s popularity in Germany.

Barry Pinches won the PTC event 4 in Sheffield yesterday by beating three-time World Snooker champion Ronnie O’Sullivan in the final.
O’Sullivan, had earlier in the day recorded his 600th century of his career and actually led the best of 7 frame final match 3-1 before Pinches put on a spirited performance to close the gap and ultimately win the title.
Pinches was the runner-up against Mark Selby at PTC 2 and so has now amassed £17,100 from the PTC events to date and at this stage looks a certainty to feature in the televised finals in March next year.

Mark Selby is the latest top 16 ranked snooker player to make the most of the increased playing opportunities this season by winning the latest round of the Players Tour Championships in Sheffield.
The Leicester based cueman came from 3-1 down against Barry Pinches to win the title 4-3. The win provided Selby with a £10,000 winners cheque and the all-important 2000 ranking points that went with the victory.

Mark Williams put on a tremendous display in the final of snooker’s first ever Players Tour Championship event in Sheffield at the weekend. The Welshman demolished Stephen Maguire 4-0 in the final with breaks of 75, 64, 59 and 82 to beat the Scotsman and pick up the £10,000 winners cheque.
