Summary
Rob Milkins brought new father Ali Carter back down to earth by beating him 5-1 in the Grand Prix first round.
World number five Carter was only able to focus on playing after his wife gave birth to their first child, son Max, just ahead of the Glasgow tournament.
Milkins, ranked 55th, set the tone by winning the first frame 105-0, and Carter never found his rhythm.
China's Ding Junhui is also through to the second round after fighting back to beat Matthew Stevens of Wales 5-4.
Ding found himself 4-2 down but pulled it back to 4-3 with an excellent break of 105 in the seventh frame.
However, Stevens still looked set for victory as he pulled out to a 31-3 lead.
But Ding fought back to level the game, and went on to win the decisive ninth thanks in large part to a great shot to split the reds early on.
