Norton won the first frame of a long match on the pink after leading with breaks of 22 and 28, Rowing got back in the frame to no avail with 46.
Rowing won the 2nd drawn out frame with a break of 20 at the death and took the lead for the first time with a run of 29 again late on in the frame.
He extended his lead to 1-4 with a 39 break in the 4th frame winning the 5th easily and an early finish seemed on the cards.
Norton then produced his best spell of the match making breaks of 53,32 and 52 to reduce his arrears to 3-4 however the match had to be halted and resumed on a outside table later.
The next frame lasted 50 minutes Rowing winning the important 8th game potting the last three colours, Norton with 29 took the 9th.
A run of 45 secured from Rowing victory for the Doncaster player.
Both players will now be in line for selection for the various international senior events next season.
