CRAIGIE WINS OPENER
JOHAL STILL LEADS

 

Stephen Craigie won the first event of the EASB Pro Ticket Tour Stage Two, Newcastle defeating Kuljesh Johal, Huddersfield 6-3 in the final, Northern SC, Leeds

Craigie who is not in the final stages of the English Amateur is 3rd , Johal with the Eng Am points added to the last 32 to be played May 1st-2nd heads Adam Wicheard, Trowbridge in the combined North/South rankings which features a set 32 players

The winner led easily 5-1 in the final which included a run of 87 despite a 60 from Johal in the 5th frame, Johal won the 7th and 8th frames but clinically Craigie claimed the win with a 117 break.

Craigie opened day one with a 5-2 win against Ellliot Bastable came back from 3-1 down to beat Daniel Ward 5-3 with breaks of 59,134 and 58 and over a few close frames edged David Craggs by the same score on Sunday he crushed Ian Glover 5-1 in the semi finals, 51 break.

Johal reached the final by beating Shaun Wilkes 5-1, Jonathan Bagley 5-3 from 2-1 adrift, James McGouran 5-2, Johal 50 and 66, McGouran 52 in the last frame and finally Sean Bullock 5-0 breaks of 79,58 and 57.

In the quarter finals Bullock fired in efforts of 92,95,96 and 70 to lead Stuart Carrington 4-3, 83 forced the decider which Bullock won 74-55.

Out of the nine 5-4 matches David Craggs beat Adam Duffy on the black from 4-2 down. Robbie Williams won from 2-0 and 4-3 down with breaks of 82,50 and 81 to beat Adam Wicheard pointless for the three above frames, Wicheard back to lead with 54 and 76, Williams 62 for 4-4.

Ian Glover squandered a 4-1 lead to Sam Harvey recovering with a run of 77 in the last who then thumped Williams 5-0 in the quarters opening with 92.
