English Regional Junior Tour Event 5 Finals

ENGLISH REGIONAL JUNIOR TOUR

 

EVENT 5 – FIVE ZONES

 

Event 5 completed the series of the English Regional Junior Tour with the top two from each Zone promoted to the Premier Junior Tour for next season other PJT places available will be filled from the play offs.

In total 118 players played on the Tour.

 

Zone 1 – Ambassador Club, Poole

Mark Green, Salisbury defeated Michael Rogers, Taunton 2-0 with a 45 break in the first frame to decide the rankings title the finalists dominating Zone 1 both are promoted and both won their groups.

Green impressive not losing a frame all day and making breaks of 42,45,47,54,79

and 81, Rogers lost a game in the group stage.

Top 8; Green 993 points, Rogers 930, Haydon Pinhey 602, Declan Bristow 566, James Bolton 290, James Sumner 250, Samuel Streames 191 and Jack Mitchell 190.

 

Zone 2 – Chandlers Ford SC

Lewis Frampton, Byfleet in only his 2nd event comfortably beat Phil O’Kane, Sidcup 2-0 in the final to finish in 10th place from 29 players.

Frampton made a break of 56 in the semi finals to beat rankings winner Jordan Winbourne 2-0 and came from behind to beat Scott Bell in the last eight.

Winbourne who made the days most breaks over forty topped by two 60’s edged twice winner Luke Godfrey into 2nd place by 7 points, Godfrey losing in the quarter finals in fact at the start of the knockout stage four of the top 5 could have claimed a promotion place.

Frampton and Godfrey won their groups after losing a match Winbourne and Hammad Miah unbeaten.

Top 8; Winbourne 727 points, Godfrey 720, Miah who missed the 1st event 678,

Adam Bobat 630, Bell 594, O’Kane 592, Danny Douane 452 and Kristian Kelly 370.

 

Zone 3 – Newmarket Snooker and Bowl

George Pragnell, Norwich in his 2nd event crushed rankings winner James Jelley, Leicester 2-0 in the final with a break of 46 in the last frame the winner also had a break of 53 in the semi’s to beat Oliver Brown who squared the match on a re spot.

Jelley who made the highest break of the day 60 beat Samuel Gates also in his 2nd event 2-1 in the last four.

By reaching the final Jelley by a point topped the rankings over absent Chris Wakelin who had won Events 2,3 and 4.

Jelley, Gates, Brown and Frampton all won their groups the latter two with a clean sheet.

Top 8; Jelley 857, Wakelin 856, Brown 541, Steven Hallworth 492,

absent for the last two events Sameer Knight 451, Hannah Jones 330,

Adam King 322 and Andrew Foster 322.

 

Zone 4 – Brierley Hill SC

Joe Steele, Stoke with his first title beating rankings winner Clayton Humphries, Liverpool 2-1 and hoisted himself into 2nd place the loser a 67 break the best of the day for 1-1.

Steele defeated Ryan Duffy 2-1 and James Myers 2-0, Steele 53.

Humphries despite reaching three finals in total only scraped through in 4th place in the groups losing two matches, Steele also with two losses won the group with Aston Lloyd claiming top spot in the 2nd group of five winning all his matches 2-1.

Top 8; Humphries 787 points, Steele 726, Steven Giles 612, Myers 553, Farakh Ajaib absent three times winning the other two events 450, Jordan Rimmer 380, James Cahill 370 and Adam Brown 281.

 

Zone 5 – Manhattan SC, Harrogate

Michael Williams, Hartlepool claimed his first win in the RJT’s toughest Zone beating rankings winner Oliver Calland, Doncaster three times a finalist 2-0 with a break of 45.

Williams with the best group record 11/1 beat William Byrne 2-1 after losing the first frame Oliver Lines and Chris Keogan both 2-0.

The 25 players produced 17 breaks over forty, Keith Kinnersley five of them however the highest came from the cue of Keoghan 88, Daniel Womersley close with 83.

Other group winners unbeaten Joe Roberts, Dylan Mitchell, Darryl Hill and Bradley Segal who lost a match, Calland could only manage 3rd place in Roberts group.

Top 8; Calland 807 points, Womersley 662, Keoghan 621, Williams 617, Thomas Saddington 612, Hill 602, Oliver lines 597 and Mitchell 502.
