Steve Judd and David Brown won the opening event of the new English Seniors Tour spilt into two sections North and South.

 

North – Bolton SC

Judd English Senior finalist last season defeated John Welsh 3-1 in this sections final on the black, 4th frame the winner had also beaten 1987 English Amateur Champion Mark Rowing 3-2 on the final ball in the semi’s after trailing 2-1.

Welsh reached the final also winning 3-2 decisive in the decider with a break of 56.

Judd who beat the Rocket in the 1991 English final topped his group with a 12-2 frame difference unbeaten, Welsh 2nd.

Alan Edmonds topped the other group 11-5 Rowing came 2nd making the highest break 90.

 

South – Landywood SC, Walsall

Local David Brown beat Colin Norton 3-1 in the West Mids finishing with a fine break of 88 after losing the first frame on the black.

Brown dropped just one frame in his group 12-1 beating Nick Pearce 3-1 in the last four, Norton also finished top of his group and came back from 2-0 down with breaks of 63 and 64 to beat Gary Morris on the black.

Only 5 breaks over 50 in the North, South a much higher standard 17 efforts over the benchmark the best 118 from Pearce.
