LEE Roling defeated his Eastleigh Academy club-mate Ben Tanner 2-1 in the second Cuestars Under-21 Gold Tour snooker final at Jesters SC, Swindon.

The 18-year-old, who now leads the rankings, disposed of James Bolton (Salisbury) 3-1 in the last four.

Tanner, 17, posted six breaks of 30 or more including a new personal best 68 during the day’s play.

Both Eastleigh potters topped their round-robin groups

Chandler’s Ford’s England international Jordan Winbourne, last month’s Gold winner in Salisbury, failed to qualify from the group stages.

However, the 13-year-old, on 96, missed a black for his second century.

Salisbury finalist Kevin Impett surprisingly won just one frame in nine.

Eddie Van Damme, from Gloucester, made his debut in the competition.

The next tournament in the eight-event series is at Jesters SC, Swindon, on December 6.

Classy Winfield strikes silver in Swindon

TROWBRIDGE teenager Daniel Winfield fought his way through 22 frames of snooker to clinch the second Cuestars Under-21 Silver Tour trophy.

Winfield, an England pool star, edged out home player Sam Jefferson 3-2 in the final at Jesters SC, Swindon.

Now based at Players in Westbury, Winfield, who missed out on qualification at Salisbury in event one last month, was undefeated in the round-robin group stage.

Jefferson, a semi-finalist at Salisbury, also topped his group despite losing to Salisbury champion Lee Bell (The Academy, Eastleigh).

Bell, 15, finished third in his group and chalked up a new high break of 49.

Two out of two for Ryan

HIGH Wycombe’s Ryan Gavin is proving to be virtually unbeatable on the Cuestars Under-21 Bronze Tour snooker circuit.

Gavin, who won event one in Salisbury last month, overcame Swindon’s Joe Moon 2-0 in the final of the second tournament on his opponent’s home tables at Jesters SC.

Incredible, across the two tournaments, Gavin has won 13 of his 14 matches and lost just two of 25 frames.

In Swindon he did not drop a single frame in seven games.

Gavin, based at High Wycombe’s Liberal Club, leads Moon and Gary Wilkins (Trowbridge) by a whopping 34 points in the Bronze rankings.

The next tournament in the eight-event series is at Jesters SC, Swindon, on December 6.
