Higgins Beats Carter to Win Group 2

John HigginsThe Scot who had already competed at Crondon Park for the opening group of this years Championship League beat Carter 3-1 to book his place in the final group.

He said that banter from fellow Scot Stephen Maguire, who qualified on Tuesday helped him through, “Stephen was giving me a bit of stick as he had already made it through and he was relaxing at the spa in the hotel enjoying himself so it’s good to get through.”

One of the biggest shocks is that the second player eliminated from this years Championship League is Ronnie O’Sullivan who suffered four suceessive losses after a bright start to finish bottom of the group of seven players.

It was O’Sullivan’s first outing in the Championship League and ahead of next year will now know what to expect in these short matches.

Group three starts on Monday January 18th and the action can once again be watched live at Bet365.com.

Players in Group three are: Mark Allen, Ali Carter, Marco Fu, Stephen Hendry, Joe Perry, Neil Robertson and Judd Trump.
