Where Everyone's A Winner!

Onwards and Upwards for MaXimumbreak Snooker...

Welcome to the Christmas edition of the MaXimumbreak Snooker newsletter. We would like to take this opportunity to let you all know about our plans for 2008.

Based on the huge amount of content within the site, we have found that much of the information is not being regularly viewed. With this in mind, we are currently re-designing the site to feature three key areas as follows:

1. MaXimumbreak Snooker Portal: This area will be the site’s landing page. Within the portal you will find all of the interactive features including the prize draw, free 8-week snooker course, free e:book etc. You will also be getting a new-look snooker forum, the latest snooker news from a variety of sources and also the regular newsletter.

2. Playbettersnooker.com: This area will focus purely on developing your snooker skills. We have hundreds of articles including safety play; long and short potting; control of the cue ball including back spin, top spin, playing with side spin; psychology of snooker including concentration techniques, controlling emotions and anger. This coaching site will also contain a series of practice routines to help you to improve different aspects of your game. Not only do we focus on coaching snooker – we will provide you with a wealth of sports science articles to help to improve too!

3. The MaXimumbreak Snooker Store: The current snooker store will be given a complete makeover. We have negotiated deals with the leading snooker manufacturers to offer cues, cases and accessories at the lowest possible prices. There will be fantastic offers all year round for members. Within the store, you will find product reviews kindly provided by our members, which will help you to decide on the products that are right for you.

The Rocket Fires Again...

Ronnie O'SullivanMore than two years after winning his last ranking event, Rocket Ronnie O' Sullivan is back to his winning ways. O’Sullivan, who moves to provisional number one following his capture of the UK Championship title, played flawlessly in defeating Scot Steven Maguire in a one-sided final by 10 frames to 2.

O’Sullivan was quick out of the blocks and raced into an 8-0 lead after the first session. Although Maguire pulled two late frames back, there was no coming back from such a deficit and a 94 break by O’Sullivan sealed victory.

Perhaps the highlight of the championship was the O’Sullivan’s final frame decider against the Leicester potter and last years World Championship Finalist, Mark Selby. Following a fairly poor break off shot by O’Sullivan played left handed, Selby missed a long red and although he screwed the white back to near the baulk cushion he was unfortunate to leave a red over the bottom pocket, which O’ Sullivan duly dispatched. Some 10 minutes later, the Rocket had made his 9th Televised 147 and, in doing so, broke Stephen Hendry’s record.

At some points during this match, O’Sullivan appeared not to be interested – he admitted after the game that he sat and counted dots on the back of a spoon to stop himself from drifting away and losing his concentration! Regardless of his attitude towards the game and his opponents you simply cannot take away the fact that The Rocket is a genius when his mind is on the game. On this form, who would be able to stop him from following up on this win by winning the World Championship in 2008?

For the last 6 months, MaXimumbreak Snooker Director Neil Cummins has been working as a consultant for the Gravity Cue Company. Read the upcoming press release below, which describes the Gravity Cue story:

With the development of the modern game, advances in sports technology have led a Liverpool company to design a snooker cue that is set to revolutionise the game. Not since the game of snooker was invented in 1895 has the design of the snooker cue changed so dramatically.

Liverpool based Snooker Coach and ex-professional  Neil Johnson of the Liverpool Snooker Academy intends to provide snooker players worldwide with the competitive edge in the form of the Gravity Cue, which is due to be launched in early 2008. The cue will help players of all ability levels to improve their game.

Such has been the impact of the new concept that the Gravity Cue has already won a number of innovation awards including the Number 1 Sports Product in both the Don’t Just Dream It Innovation Awards 2006 and Merseyside Innovation Awards 2007 presented by Liverpool Businessman Steve Morgan.

Neil Cummins, Managing Director of Gravity Cue Partners MaXimumbreak.com commented "We really see the Gravity Cue as the future of snooker coaching and snooker development. Not only is it a fantastic training aid with valid scientific rationale, it can be used by players of all skill levels in competition as it conforms entirely to the governing bodies regulations".

The Gravity Cue will be licensed to one of the UK’s largest cue manufacturers, Peradon & Fletcher Ltd. Inventor Neil Johnson explains "Peradon have been involved with the development of the cue from day 1, which was over 15 months ago – the fact that Peradon understand the concept and share the values of our company made them the logical licensing partner".

The key feature of the Gravity Cue is the patented active, split keeled, anti-twist weighting system. This feature provides the cue with an amazing 200 times resistance to rotation compared to a standard weighted cue, which discourages players from turning their wrist. With its low centre of gravity as a result of 80% of the weight being distributed in the bottom half of the cue; the Gravity Cue actively stabilizes the hand & wrist in the optimum position. It responds to any twisting of the wrist by actively pulling itself & your hand back towards the neutral position, thus representing immediate feedback between the brain and the muscles that drive the cue.

Already, players of all levels are commenting positively on the Gravity Cue. What is amazing is that players aren't just re-aligning their cueing arm, they are moving their whole body, guided by their stance, to get themselves into a more efficient position to be able to cue straighter through the ball.... the Gravity Cue pulls one way and the player pulls the other until the optimum setup position is reached!

As discussed in the press release, we firmly believe that this cue will revolutionise the way snooker is coached worldwide - look out for the world launch that is not too far away. Be sure to contact MaXimumbreak to pre-order your Gravity Cue. We will be giving away free cases and accessories with every cue purchased!
