January 2006 Newsletter | Pub: 2006-01-30 Welcome to January's edition of the Maximumbreak Snooker newsletter. We hope you all had a great xmas and New Year. December was a busy month for all involved with Maximumbreak and the SupaMax Group. We've been working on developing our MaximumBreak.com web site and so we apologise for the lack of new development within the site - this explains why we've only just managed to get the January newsletter out with a day to spare! On a more positive note, we've recently struck a deal with two new suppliers so we'll be filling our shopping cart with a few hundred more products and reducing the price of some products too! ================================================== CONTENTS 1, FIVE BASIC RULES OF SNOOKER 2, WELCOME ONBOARD ALAN BELL 3. NEIL ON TOUR 4. MAXIMUMBREAK LAUNCH DATE ================================================== 1, FIVE BASIC BUT VERY IMPORTANT RULES OF SNOOKER. As ever, we include this in all our newsletters to remind you of the basic but very important rules of your game. If you are a beginner, here are five valuable points to keep in mind at all times: 1. Solid stance! with the right leg straight and the left leg bent. Depending on whether you are right or left handed. 2. Firm Bridge! make sure you have a strong bridge hand with a solid "V" for the cue to travel along. 3. Cue parallel to the table, and striking the cue ball in the centre. 4. Smooth cue action! making sure the cue runs along the "V"backwards and forwards nice and smoothly with no jerkiness and in a straight line. 5. Keep your head down!! after playing the shot keep your head down at all times until the ball is potted, this will stop any movement of the head and body. ================================================== Welcome onboard Alan Bell Maximumbreak is delighted to announce that we have welcomed aboard the excellent coaching services of Alan Bell. Some of you have probably not heard of the name before but Alan is most famous for coaching Jimmy White throughout the eighties and nineties. More Info Alan has also coached many great players of past and present including 1986 World Champion Joe Johnson, Willie Thorne, Robin Hull and Joe Jogia. Alan's coaching methods are somewhat unorthodox - he explains 'there are some shots in both snooker or pool that any coaching manual simple cannot teach because it's all about touch and feel'... he goes on to say 'I can get the best out of people by breaking each shot down and explaining what is required from start to finish using my own technique that helps my pupils to feel and envisage the requirements of each shot before they play it'. Alan's unique approach stems from what he describes quite openly as his feelings, concentration and enthusiasm. Alan's rates are very reasonable at 20 pounds per hour when you consider that Terry Griffiths charges 117.50 pounds per hour and Terry's son Wayne charges 30 pounds per hour! View Charges The SupaMax Group are working with Alan to develop coaching courses similar to those advertised in the link above. Best of all, we have built a coaching support system into the members area of the new site, this will allow you to submit your questions to us and we will try and sort out your problems. We are thinking of building an upload system to allow members to upload a video of themselves for Alan to analize and to put you on the right track to improving your game. But at the present you will be able to submit your questions to us from within your control panel. ================================================== NEIL ON TOUR The first event of the International Pool Association UK Pool Tour takes place on February 10th, 11th and 12th at the Wembley Conference Centre and I'll be involved! With the addition of Alan Bell to the SupaMax team to improve Neil's game, he will be hoping to do well in what will prove to be a difficult first year on the Tour. We'll be creating a diary area in the SupaCues site with information about events that he played in and full results. Co- developer me, will also be helping neil with the psychological aspects of his game and will be keeping him motivated and focused at all tour events. I will put together a small write up about his performances and will also contribute to an event report to go into the articles section. The pool tour will act as an advertising campaign in one sense as we'll be looking for opportunities to meet those responsible for the tour as we feel there are lots of opportunities for improving the current situation of UK Pool on the internet and beyond. In addition to the personal diary, the SupaMax Group has put together some sponsorship packages for local players including sponsored waistcoats and shirts, reduced rate coaching, free equipment and accessories and subsidised travel to events. ================================================== MAXIMUMBREAK LAUNCH DATE We have nearly completed the new re-developed version of Maximumbreak and will be closing the site down for 3 day's starting from next monday the 6 February 2006. The site will hold tons more features and also make your visit much easier to navigate to get to the heart of the content. Members will also get discounts off most products within our new and much larger store, which will hold almost anything and everything. If you don't see it in the store, then please get in touch with us and we will get it in for you so you don't lose any discount off the product if you decided to search else where for it. Members will also get extra discount point's for writing articles of their own, which will be awarded merit points on how much content they submit to the system. We will then credit you with those point's which you can trade off towards your next purchase from our store. I will be sending everyone an email to remind them of this taking place. I would also like to remind all non-members ie. subscribers to upgrade their membership and get access to the site for the old price of just £6.00. When the new site goes live, the new prices will be £12 for one years access, so it makes sense to get your full lifetime memberships right now before it's to late. When it's gone it's gone, so please hurry and upgrade right now! I will be in contact with you again soon but that's all for now, Warmest regards Your Friendly Site Team
