Hannah played in the Derbyshire Billiards Handicap today at North East Derbyshire, Claycross.
This was an adult event.
She lost in the preliminary round of the main event by 9 points to Bill Morris - who went on to play me in the next (I won, then lost in the next)
Hannah was then drawn against Bill Morris...AGAIN...in the prelim of the plate event. Prior to this we had lunch and some practice. As usual Hannah started off playing okay but then got better and better. She played well and beat Bill in the prelim.
In the next round Hannah played Frank Sharrat. He is a billiard player in the Derby league. She beat him easily and, very embarrassed left the venue, saying a few unnecessary comments to the organisers.
Hannah played a very good billiard player, Graeme Sutton in the semi final. She was getting better and better, her potting was devastating (really, honest) and she pretty much slaughtered him. He was lovely to her afterwards having seen her play a few times before.
The final was between Hannah and Les Cook. He is a lovely 77 year old billiard master who had worked through his half of the draw and couldnt wait to play her. She played her best billiards and beat him in no time with a few well placed mini breaks.
She impressed me for a number of reason. Firstly she got better and better. Secondly she didn't get nervous but seemed to enjoy the final and the attention. (Total opposite of how I used to be)
As we left Les Cook said to me. "Mark I think I contributed to my own downfall today, I spoke to Hannah when I first met her this morning and said 'Hannah if you want to do well remember 1 thing and that is to stay absolutley still on the shot and don't move at all' and she didn't!!!!"
Hannah picked up £15 and alot of respect from the likes of Dave Rees a billiard champion in his day.
