Worrall chips in with Swindon victory

KEEN poker player Sebastian Worrall staked an early claim for the South of England Cuestars Senior title with victory in event three at Jesters SC, Swindon.

In his first start of the season, the 14-handicapper emerged unbeaten from a 31-strong field. He pocketed £140 after beating Pascal Richard in the final.

Worrall edged out Liam Tinne (Salisbury SC) in the semi-final.

Based at Swindon Snooker Club, Worrall finished 47th in the Pontin’s World Pro-Am Series at Prestatyn, North Wales.

Richard, also making his season debut, collected £60. He knocked out ranking leader Neil Craycraft in the last 16 and last season’s Senior runner-up Phil Wildman in the last four.

Dion Baker bounced back from a 3-0 first-round exit to Wildman to win the Plate competition. The Portsmouth cueman, who beat Craycraft 2-0 in the semis, picked up £35 after defeating local lad Lewis Miles in the final.

Scratch player Craycraft (Jesters), who won the first event at Salisbury, holds a three-point lead over Baker with eight tournaments to play.
