Nick cuts down Woods

Known as ‘The Otter Potter’, after his parent’s pub The Otter in Otterbourne, Hampshire, Jennings leads series-11 after a 2-0 final victory over Hedge End’s Daniel Woods.

Eleven finals in six weeks, four century breaks in two months, and some observers had wondered if the region’s finest 15-year-old had reached his peak.

A first tournament ton at a Cuestars tournament in March sparked an about-turn in Jennings’ season. After reaching the EASB national under-16 quarter-final, Jennings went on a run of 11 finals, of which six were on his travels, and chalked up three more tons.

Jennings (50, 52 and 50), Alex Dunkley, (70 and 55), Mansbridge’s Lee Ashbolt, (58, 51, 55 and 53), Dan Hildyard, (55, 57 and 50) and Shane Castle (61) contributed 13 half-century breaks – a new high in the Roll-Up’s four-year history.

Ashbolt, 20, lost to Jennings 3-2 in one semi while former World Ladies’ Junior Champion Suzie Opacic let slip a 2-0 lead against Woods, 16, in the other.
After a first-round exit, Castle, 9, eased past Scott McGaw (Calmore) 2-0 in the Plate final.

The Chandler’s Ford Under-21 Roll-Up is played on a rolling 20-week series. The top 15 ranked players share £1,000. Although handicapped, the handicaps are weighted towards the better players thus forcing the overall standard up whilst retaining the interest of the top lads.

The main comp is best-of-five with a best-of-three plate. We kick off at 1pm every Saturday. The standard is relatively high. 15 of the 20 players who started the new series have recorded competitive high breaks of more than 50.
