Brown, 20, from the Fountain SC in Antrim, edged out Belfast’s Julian Logue 10-9 on the final black at the Green Baize SC in Armagh.

World No 16 Allen won the title in 2003 and 2005.

Logue chalked up breaks of 69, 55, 56 and 89 in the final in which there were never more than two frames in it, while Brown, NI Under-21 Champion 2008, contributed a 75.

Brown, who finished fifth in the rankings, will represent NI at the IBSF World Championships in Austria in October/November.

Declan Hughes has been nominated to rejoin the Main Tour after a ten-year absence. The 34-year-old from Craigavon, Co Armagh, went into the last event level with Dermot McGlinchey. But a first-round exit ended McGlinchey’s hopes.

Hughes reached the semi-final to hold off the threat of Logue who finished second.
