Shane recorded breaks of 42, 51, 42 and 38 in the early rounds but revealed that his sights are set higher.

“I want to get up to a 100,” said the remarkable Marchwood youngster, moments after a 2-0 final victory.

Shane recorded 3-1 wins over Kevin Impett (Totton), Dan Hildyard (Fair Oak) and Arron McIntyre (Hiltingbury) to reach a fifth final of the 20-week series. He extended his lead over Hildyard, 16, at the top of the rankings to 13 points after nine weeks and could soon face another handicap cut.

Alex Dunkley (Bursledon) beat 14-year-old Jason Hildyard 3-2 with breaks of 50 and 55. He added a 74 in a 3-2 last-eight win against John Smith (Otterbourne) and a 76 in a 3-2 semis defeat by Billy Castle.

Trailing 2-0 to Lee Ashbolt (Mansbridge), Stewart Crosswell (Colden Common) fired in a 56 and levelled before losing the decider. Ollie Tydeman (Chandler’s Ford) added a 50 against Smith, 18, and third-placed Ashbolt, 20, ran up 56 against fourth-placed Castle, 14. Gas Elite-sponsored Jordan Sainsbury beat Crosswell, 19, 2-0 in the Plate final and remains seventh.
