Summary
ALEX Dunkley has joined an elite band of players who have won both Southampton snooker singles titles in the same year.
But the 19-year-old said: “I would gladly swap both trophies to see my grandad one more time.”
Ivor Witchell died two weeks ago, aged 80, after a fall in his garden in Bristol.
“He always took an interest in my snooker career,” added Dunkley.

In a repeat of the 2005 final, Dunkley beat Hythe’s Wayne Crotty to clinch the Southampton & District Billiards & Snooker Association title at Woolston Conservative Club.
In March, he was crowned Town Champion after beating Adam Nash (City Transport) 4-1 to win a first Southampton & District Social Clubs League singles title.
Crotty took the lead with a 37 break but missed the pink after successfully snookering the home player in the next. Dunkley took a 2-1 lead with a 35 and sealed a 3-1 victory with a 51.
